Wise vs Skrill Money Transfer Referral Offers

Money-transfer offers are only useful when you already need to send money. The fee and exchange rate matter more than the headline reward.

Quick verdict

Use Skrill if the £10 transfer discount applies to a transfer you already planned and the total cost is still competitive. Use Wise when its live transfer pricing and route fit better, even if the referral reward varies.

Wise Review UK: Is the Wise Current Account Worth It?

Worth having next to your main bank account if your money crosses borders. On 11 October 2026 sending £1,000 to a euro bank account cost £3.81 at the mid-market rate, there's no monthly fee, and you get account details in 22 currencies. It's a weaker choice as your only account: the balance is safeguarded rather than FSCS-protected, and held transfers, verification checks and account blocks dominate the recent complaints. Through our link, take the free card (normally £7) if you want a physical card: on the routes we priced, even a £1,000 transfer costs less than that in fees.

Skrill Money Transfer

Skrill Money Transfer Review UK: What Does a 'Zero-Fee' Transfer Really Cost?

Skrill Money Transfer is easy to use, but 'zero fees' only means there is no upfront fee when you pay by bank transfer. Skrill makes its money on the exchange rate, with a markup of up to 4.99%: at that ceiling, £100 sent to a euro account arrives as about €112.09 instead of €117.98, a cost of about £4.99, and paying by card adds up to 1% (debit) or 2.99% (credit). The £10 referral credit roughly cancels the worst-case markup on one £200 transfer, but it isn't cash, it expires after three months, and Skrill's own terms disagree on whether a new member can use it on their first transfer. Use Skrill when the live quote, after any credit, gives your recipient more than another provider would. It is an e-money account with no FSCS cover, so don't keep money in it.

FAQ

Is Wise or Skrill better for referrals?
Skrill has a clearer £10 discount route here. Wise may still be cheaper or better for a specific transfer, so compare total cost before sending money.
Should I send money just to get a referral reward?
No. Only use a transfer offer when you already need the transfer and the total fee and exchange rate are acceptable.
