iD Mobile Review: SIM Plans, Roaming and Referral Cash

iD Mobile sells SIM-only service and handset plans in the UK and uses Three's mobile network. A SIM-only plan is separate from buying a phone on finance. Before moving, check the network coverage map at home, work and along your commute, and confirm your handset supports the features you rely on.

Monthly SIM plans require a credit check. The provider advertises 5G where coverage and a compatible device are available; that does not guarantee 5G indoors or at every address.

On 14 October 2026, the live 30-day SIM-only page showed £6 for 10GB, £7 for 20GB, £8 for 30GB, £10 for 60GB, £12 for 100GB and £20 for unlimited data. The 12- and 24-month options have different prices and allowances. Compare the total payable over the full term, not just the monthly headline.

The provider advertises no annual price rises on SIM-only deals, but offers can still change when a contract ends or you choose a new plan. Save the plan details shown during checkout so you can compare later changes with what you agreed to.

Eligible plans let unused data roll over once for one month. It is a short buffer rather than a permanent bank of data, so choose a plan you can use without relying on rollover month after month.

The account tools include a bill cap and controls for data and roaming. Set a cap that matches your needs and read which services sit outside your allowance. A cap can reduce surprise charges, but does not replace checking the price of premium numbers, roaming or other chargeable services before using them.

iD Mobile lists roaming in 50 destinations. Customers who joined after 21 June 2023 can use up to 30GB of their plan data in eligible destinations; lower data allowances still limit the amount available. Use beyond the included allowance or in destinations outside the list can cost extra.

Check the destination list and roaming rates before travel, then enable roaming in your account if required. A roaming bundle is not a promise that every country, ship or satellite network is included.

The public Refer a Friend programme shows different rewards by product and plan. For SIM-only retail purchases, the current table lists £5 for plans up to £8 a month and £10 for plans above £8; unlimited-data plans show £20. Other products have separate amounts. Do not assume the maximum applies to every SIM.

The referral link must be opened before ordering, with cookies enabled, and the order must be completed directly on iD Mobile's site. The public page says the order needs to remain active through two bill payments; confirmation can take up to 120 days, around 17 weeks. iD Mobile offers eSIM on compatible devices, plus Wi-Fi calling where the phone and account support it. Check the current setup instructions before switching, especially if you depend on your number for banking codes.

iD Perks is a separate customer benefit area with partner offers. Its discounts can be useful, but they should be valued only if you would use those partners anyway. App ratings also reflect account servicing across iD customers, not just the quality of mobile coverage.

A 30-day plan and a 12- or 24-month contract have different exit dates and costs. Check your account for the plan end date and any early termination amount before requesting a PAC or switching. The number transfer process can close or change services, so follow iD Mobile's current instructions rather than cancelling first.

Referral cashback is not a reason to keep a plan that no longer suits you. The public programme requires the qualifying order to stay active through the stated bill period, so cancelling early can also invalidate the reward.

Consider iD Mobile if Three has good signal where you need it, you value a bill cap and rollover, and the exact plan's total price fits your use. Check whether any referral amount is attached to the plan you are actually buying.

Look elsewhere if coverage is weak, you need more roaming data than the included cap, or a long contract is a poor fit. Do not take a more expensive plan solely to chase a higher cashback tier unless the extra allowance itself is useful.
