Brilliant by Langham Review: 10,000 Points per US$20, If the Stay Is Already Planned
Brilliant by Langham reviewed for a UK reader: what Onyx membership does, how the 10,000-point bonus works, which bookings earn nothing, and the 2027 points run-off.
Last updated 17 October 2026

Best for
Someone in Britain who already has a paid stay or meal at a participating Langham, Cordis or Eaton hotel, including The Langham, London.
Join only if the spend is already happening. The in-app screen credits 10,000 Bonus Award Points to your account after each of your first three eligible transactions of at least US$20, if you enrol by 31 December 2026. On top of that, programme terms pay 150 Award Points and 150 Status Points per US$5, so a clean US$20 spend is 600 of each before the bonus. Third-party rates such as Booking.com earn nothing, and Award Points stop being earned on 12 January 2027. No cash value per point is published.
Pros
- 10,000 Bonus Award Points per qualifying transaction, capped at three, so 30,000 if all three qualify
- Free Onyx membership, with no stay required before you join
- A published earn rate: 150 Award Points and 150 Status Points per US$5 of eligible spend
- The Langham, London is on the hotel list
- Member dining discount of 5% at Onyx outside Hong Kong, and 15% at designated Hong Kong restaurants
- Missing points can be claimed from three days after the transaction, within six months
Watch-outs
- Enrolment alone pays no bonus
- The screenshot never defines an eligible transaction, and the footnote marked * was cut off
- Booking.com, Expedia, Ctrip and Fliggy rates earn no points
- You must be there in person, give your membership number, and pay the bill yourself
- Award Points stop on 12 January 2027 and unused points expire by 11 January 2028
- No published cash value, so 10,000 points is not a sum of money

What the programme is
Brilliant by Langham is the free loyalty programme of Langham Hospitality Group, operated by Brilliant Loyalty Program Limited. The hotel list includes The Langham, Cordis, Eaton and Ying'nFlo properties. The Langham, London and The Langham, Hong Kong are both on it. Some outlets are named as non-participating, including the whole of The Langham, Haikou, Food Hall at Eaton Hotel, Hong Kong, and Rice and Roast at Great Eagle Centre.
The FAQ says you must be 18 or over and must not have registered before. You need an email address. A mobile number is required for mainland China sign-ups. A new member starts at Onyx.
The five tiers, and what US$400 buys
Status Points set the tier. Award Points do not. The programme terms list Onyx as entry, Topaz at 12,000 Status Points, Diamond at 108,000, Sapphire at 360,000 and Ruby at 720,000. Elite bonus Award Points, paid on top of ordinary Award Points, are 0% at Onyx, 10% at Topaz, 15% at Diamond, 25% at Sapphire and 50% at Ruby.
Ordinary earning is 150 Status Points per US$5. If every dollar is eligible and falls in exact five-dollar steps, Topaz is US$400 of eligible spend (12,000 Γ· 150 Γ US$5). Diamond on the same arithmetic is US$3,600. A one-off stay will not get you there. Status Points reset at the end of a membership period if you have not moved up. From 12 January 2027, Status Points stop being earned and the terms say a new tier structure will apply.
What a US$20 bill earns before the bonus
Before 12 January 2027, members earn 150 Award Points and 150 Status Points for every US$5 of eligible spend, converted to local currency. Points are paid only in five-dollar steps, and the terms set a US$10 minimum before any points are earned. Spend before you enrol does not count.
Worked example, stated as arithmetic rather than a quote from Brilliant: US$20 is four steps of US$5, so 600 Award Points and 600 Status Points. The 10,000-point bonus, if that transaction qualifies, sits on top and is described as Bonus Award Points. Nothing on the screen calls it Status Points, so it should not be treated as progress toward Topaz. Brilliant publishes no cash value per point.
The 10,000-point bonus
The in-app referral screen supplied on 17 October 2026 says an invited member who enrols through the unique link on or before 31 December 2026 receives 10,000 Bonus Brilliant Award Points after each eligible transaction. It counts the first three, and each needs at least US$20 of eligible spending. Three qualifying transactions are 30,000 points, credited to your account. Use the enrolment link on this site so the visit is the one the screen describes.
The screen does not define an eligible transaction, which charges count toward the US$20, or how many days crediting takes. The footnote marked * was not in the screenshot. The public enrolment page and the programme terms do not restate the 10,000 points. If the live screen disagrees with this page, the screen controls.
Bookings that earn nothing
To earn on a stay you must book in your own name, occupy the room, give your membership number at booking or before check-out, and pay yourself. The terms name bookings through Ctrip, Booking.com, Expedia and Fliggy as examples that earn nothing, along with wholesale and tour-operator rates, complimentary rooms, airline delay rates, and continuous stays of 14 nights or more on a long-stay agreement.
For dining and other spend you must be physically present, show the digital membership card before paying, and pay yourself. You can earn on up to three rooms a night in one reservation if you occupy one of them and pay for all of them, but Status Points count only for the room you occupy. Cancellation fees earn nothing. If points are missing after three days, the terms allow a claim within six months, and a successful claim takes four to six weeks.
Member rates and the dining discount
Every tier can book a member rate on the Brilliant website, app or WeChat mini-program, or by contacting the hotel, for up to three rooms a night. The member rate cannot be combined with other promotions. You pay yourself.
The dining discount in the terms is 5% for Onyx and Topaz and 10% from Diamond upwards, for up to 20 people on one bill. The member-benefits page adds 15% at designated Hong Kong restaurants. You must be there, ask before you pay, and pay yourself. The discount cannot be stacked with other offers. You cannot redeem Award Points and take the dining discount on the same bill, though you can still earn points while the discount is applied.
The 2027 run-off
Two dates sit close together. The referral screen closes this bonus enrolment on 31 December 2026. Programme terms stop Award Points, Status Points, elite bonus points and elite amenity points on 12 January 2027, including any stay that checks out on or after that date. Award Points can be redeemed until 11 January 2028. Points whose own expiry is later are pulled forward to that day. Unused points are forfeited and are not converted to cash. Vouchers already redeemed with points must be used by the same date.
The referral screen does not say the 10,000-point bonus is exempt. A stay that checks out on 12 January 2027 or later earns no ordinary points under the terms, whatever the enrolment date.
Who should join, and who should leave it
Join if a participating stay or meal is already in the diary and you can book it on a Brilliant rate rather than through Booking.com or Expedia. The Langham, London is the obvious UK case. A US$20 dining bill is enough for one round of the bonus if the outlet is eligible.
Leave it if you have no Langham-group spend coming, if the trip is a third-party package, or if you wanted cash. Existing members cannot register again. Check the non-participating list before you count on a particular restaurant: Food Hall at Eaton Hotel, Hong Kong, for example, is named as out.
